Skins (the movie) is confirmed!

I've been doing some research on the Skins movie and i found a lot of useful information. The one thing that really caught my eye was a quote from Charles Pattinson (director of Company) "given the huge amount of support from the ever expanding fan base of the series, we feel that we can go much further and produce yet another unique SKINS experience." Basically, us FANS did it! I'm so proud! Here's the whole thing (copied and pasted) -

COMPANY PICTURES, STORMDOG FILMS, FILM4 AND CINEMANX DEVELOPING MOVIE OF CULT E4 SERIES, SKINS

Producers Company Pictures and Stormdog Films, feature film financiers and distributors CinemaNX, and Film4 have today announced that they are jointly developing a feature film version of the E4 hit television series, SKINS.

Scripted by SKINS writer Jack Thorne, working closely with SKINS creator Bryan Elsley, the film is scheduled to go into production later this year, and follows four hugely successful seasons on E4. The latest of these has just finished its run, with the highest ratings of any series so far.

Director of Company, Charlie Pattinson, believes that bringing a film version to the big screen is the obvious next step for SKINS – “given the huge amount of support from the ever expanding fan base of the series, we feel that we can go much further and produce yet another unique SKINS experience”, remarked Pattinson.

A number of familiar characters from the four series are expected to feature in the film, which will be directed by long time SKINS director Charles Martin and produced by long time SKINS producer Chris Clough.  Shooting in Bristol and the Isle of Man later this year, the film is scheduled for a summer 2011 release.

Company Pictures have a long history of working with both Film4 and CinemaNX individually but this project will be the first collaboration between all three parties.

“The sheer depth in quality that SKINS has delivered over the years makes it perfect for the big screen and we are delighted to be back in business with Company,” said chairman of CinemaNX, Steve Christian.

Tessa Ross, Controller of Film4 and Channel 4 Drama, said: "It is very exciting to be migrating across from E4 to Film4, this extraordinarily talented team from SKINS, who have successfully grown such a wonderfully loyal audience over the course of the last four series.

Skins 6 !

Skins 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5 are out! Buy them on DVD or iTunes. Watch them on 4oD. WHATEVER! Skins is awesome, but the 3rd gen. might not be as awesome at the first two. Buuuuuut i'm still siked to hear that they have already started filming! The only bad news is that it isn't coming out until early 2012. I am on the first ep. season 5 and i kind of don't want to watch the rest because not being able to watch SKins whenever I want is going to SUCK! Haha so yeah the news for today basically is the filming of Skins 6! Enjoy the rest of my page and leave a comment under the "Blogging and more" tab!

Camilla Cambell, the Channel 4 Head of Drama commented:

"Having set up this new set of characters in the previous series, we can now go into more depth as to where their stories take us. With moral ambiguity, high drama, as well as a strong dose of comedy, [series 6] will not disapoint."

 US Skins Cancelled?!

Yes, it is true. As most of you may know. Thanks to the Parents Television Council (PTC). People who follow @SkinsTV on twitter have heard of this...Apparently someone hacked into their account and said Skins US would be running for a second season. Then a while later @SkinsTV announced that this was not true. And that's when Twitter blew up. I even tweeted @SkinsTV and asked if it was true and he tweeted me back and said "yes :(". Then i googled it because I dont really trust unverified accounts. There are 3 main reasons the show was canceled.

Reason #1- The PTC called it "the most dangerous show for teenagers to watch." because it portrays the life of sexually active teens, involved in drugs and alcohol.

Reason #2- The cast were all 15-17 years old. And some of the scenes were nude scenes and that is supposedly considered child pornography. This led advertisers like Taco Bell, GM, Wrigley, H&R Block, and Subway to drop out.

Reason #3- It started out with a solid 3.3 million viewers, but only half of the viewers (1.2 million) came back for the second episode. The US didn't really connect with Skins as much as "they" (Bryan Elsley, the creator, and his crew) hoped it would.

Kaya Scodelario Plays Role In Drama Movie

As some of you may have heard or seen Kaya's tweets about filming; yes, she's starring in a new movie! It's called "Now Is Good". Dakota Fanning is also starring in it. You're probably wondering what it's about. Well, it's a drama

about A girl dying of leukemia that compiles a list of things she'd like to do before passing away. Topping the list is her desire to lose her virginity. Kaya plays "Zoey" and I have no idea if she's the main character or not. I do know that Kaya's character is kind of like Effy, but a bit more annoying. This movie is to be released sometime in 2012.

Also below are some pictures of Dakota Fanning and Kaya Scodelario~
